This 3D Printed Gradient Furniture Collection is Vienna-based designer Philipp Aduatz’s latest project developed in collaboration with Austrian manufacturer incremental3d. As part of a research project, incremental3d is exploring possibilities with 3D concrete printing and finessing, the concept of dyeing concrete, in association with Philip.

The firms want to implement dye during the 3D printing process directly into the nozzle that will reduce workload, waste, and time delay. This will create a colored design in concrete, resulting in an appealing and functional furniture piece. On the basis of the new research, they have developed a new collection of benches, a chair, and a large vase.

By the application of a gradient and the exploration of possible shapes through an interactive working method, they developed an approach to exercise the design process throughout 3D concrete printing, the designer website states. This new piece evolves from a blue gradient and looks better than most other 3D-printed furniture pieces out there.

The main inspiration behind the project was to combine gradient design with different functional objects by the use of innovative fabrication technologies, the designer explains. From the bench, chair to stool, and vase, all the pieces in the 3D Printed Gradient furniture collection sport an enchanting gradient to steal the show.
