Working on their project called Cabinland, Jacob Witzling and Sara Underwood are designing and building an implausible collection of cabins in a Pacific Northwest rainforest. The creative duo has recently revealed their latest build, christened the Diamond Cabin. The cabin is a gorgeous, whimsical combination of geometry and fairy tales.
With a footprint of just 93 square feet, the forest cabin is shaped like a hexagon with six-foot sides. The walls flare out at a 30-degree angle until they are four feet high, creating more space for counters and seating inside the cabin.
The newly built Diamond Cabin is a radially planned, two-story off-the-grid oasis. The ground floor houses a snug living room with a stove and elegant furniture, and a ladder providing access to a 65-square-feet sleeping loft, 9 feet off the ground. Inside the cabin, modern comforts of home are available, including electricity, a gas stove, and a sink with cold running water.
There is an outdoor shower and hot tub as well, where a propane on-demand tankless heater has been installed to provide warm water.
It is constructed using salvaged materials, hexagonal base topped with long beams narrowing upward to a diamond-shaped roof covered in a thick layer of moss. Finished in timber shingles and moss coating, the cabin looks straight out of a fairy tale. The wooden structure and moss covering blends the cabin into the surrounding forest. Brilliantly, far better than the Hobbit homes.
The walls, ceiling, countertops, and shelving in the Diamond Cabin are built from Douglas fir retrieved from dilapidated structures on the property or purchased from a local sawmill that cuts windfall lumber.

Jacob Witzling says;
We like to make our structures do many—sometimes contradictory—things at the same time. We want them to look as though they grew in the environment, but they were also built to stand out. We want those who view them to think they look natural in their surroundings, yet at the same time, supernatural.
Their magnum opus, called Cabinland, includes five unique cabins with one-of-a-kind designs. Cabinland comprises a variety of moss-covered, off-grid cabins in the midst of the forest. The collection has tiny, unique woodland homes with a wanderlust-arousing truck cabin and an octagonal, fairytale-like dwelling.
