A fireplace is an important element in the house and it gets plenty of attention during winters, it literally becomes useless in the summer months. There are a variety of fireplace decoration ideas you can find online but Reddit user capsizedink has done something really innovative, you wouldn’t have seen before.
He has cleverly turned the empty fireplace in his house into a makeshift condo for his little furry friend. Being a rented place, he was not permitted to make any permanent alterations or damage to the existing property, and that’s why he opted for making a temporary addition using cardboard and carpet.
First, he has cut some cardboard pieces according to the shape and size of the fireplace, painted them white, and then simply put them inside, making a little cabin for the dog. For the flooring, he has attached a carpet piece over the cardboard and slotted it into the fireplace.

Finally, the fireplace turned dog condo is decked with artwork and a curtain. Inside, there is sufficient space for a dog bed or mattress and rechargeable puck lights for illumination during night time. He has also added tiny picture frames to make the little cabin look more interesting.
His little puppy has approved of the idea, no wonder then, it can be seen posing really cutely inside its new den – the fireplace dog house.
