Gilbert de Rooij of upcycleDZINE shares innovative upcycling ideas along with his own DIY projects on his blog. If you are interested in recycling plastic into something useful, his latest project will inspire you right from the onset. He has creatively handcrafted a pendant lamp out of repurposed plastic milk containers and given them a second lease of life in the form of a beautiful lighting fixture.
MilkCollar is how this upcycled creation is called, which is not really difficult to pull off. Gilbert started out by cutting unused plastic containers into three parts: top, middle, and bottom. He then used the middle portion to create this flower-like pendant lamp.
There are different possibilities of how the containers can be placed, therefore, it took the DIYer a few attempts to choose the ideal design for the lamp. The final rounded shape is formed by the segments fastened by little metal, copper-colored eyelets.
Gilbert has used a classic IKEA lightbulb in the lamp. Copper elements of which make a nice combination with eyelets, collectively adding a unique industrial-style appearance to the lamp now ready to dangle from the ceiling.

According to the DIYer, deciding on which container parts to use and where to put them was the most confusing part of the build. Nonetheless, he has pulled it off brilliantly, and if you wish to reuse plastic milk containers, this is how you can do it too.
