The Garrison stool has a purposeful design, unusual beauty, and enduring quality. This modish stool is an outcome of two companies Rebart and Stacklab. Rebart is a company that preserves historical material from Toronto infrastructure while Stacklab is a full service, multidisciplinary design studio based out of Toronto.
The company Rebart, procured two tons of rebars from the bridge during its destruction in early 2015 for Fort York revitalization project and handed it to Stacklab to create contemporary-styled stools for both indoor and outdoor use. Stacklab melted down the procured steel and produced 102 outstanding pieces of stool and gave them cast iron and cast iron with bronze tones. 51 of them are “all iron” made using steel from the former, historic Garrison Road Bridge, while other 51 units are iron with a bronze tip. The bronze tipped units are available exclusively through Maison Gerard in New York.
