Steve Dobbs, a retired Boeing aerospace engineer who now teaches engineering in California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, has created his own version of mini Disneyland in his backyard. After seeing his five grandkids get easily bored with a train toy that he got them to play with during their visits, Dobbs thought of designing something special for them, so they would always want to pay him a visit.
Inspired by amusement parks and mainly the Disneyland, 68-year-old grandpa has managed to build a magical theme park called ‘Dobbsland’ for his lucky grandkids to enjoy whenever they want, without having to wait in queues for hours.
To provide an ultimate theme park experience, Dobbs’ miniature theme park has a mini roller coaster along with princesses, castles, trains and tunnels similar to those in Disneyland Park. Besides that, he has also added two new attractions into the theme park. These attractions are from Disney movies ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘Frozen’.
For creating this wonderful marvel, he took help from some of his students from California State Polytechnic University. Reportedly, the theme park project set him back a total of $6,500. However, according to Dobbs each penny was well spent and will certainly bring a smile on the faces of his grandchildren.
