This year at Salone del Mobile, companies and designers from around the world showcased their best designs and products exhibiting the power of design and immense potential of utilizing recycled waste in the design industry. The Swedish design studio Front also showcased a unique cupboard made from the solid textile board from Really. It is a unique material created using upcycling leftover textiles from fashion and textile industries.

The unique floor-standing cupboard is characterized by its wavy sculptural form and aesthetic appeal of flowing fabric. There are three large shelves sufficient to store items. The top is decked with a textured pattern for a distinctive look. It is a functional storage furniture piece that doubles as a sculpture art to instantly complement any décor.

The design team comprising Anna Lindgren and Sofia Lagerkvist said;

We were captivated by the board’s stability as a completely new aspect of cloth. The cupboard should show that the Really Solid Textile Board still has all the inviting and charming aspects of fabric, just in a different state.

Benjamin Hubert has also created the Shift flexible shelving system (in collaborated with Front) using the same material and showcased it at this year’s Milan Design Week.

With careful planning and design, these furniture pieces made from recycled materials not only look great but also promote the greener aspect of design.
