Exceptional artist and designer Karim Rashid has designed the new KIUSO table. It is almost identical to some of his designs as it harnesses organic curves and bright colors to redefine visual aesthetics. Kiuso is a simple folding table that transforms itself into a larger table to offer space to more people instantly.
Based on a 400-year-old concept of a folding table, the Kiuso extends substantially from a narrow 30cm sideboard to a half dining table, or even to a full dining table for six.
The Kiuso features two flaps that fold to shrink its size and can be open up to expand the tabletop space. The table is made from plastic laminate and touts a steel base. Most interesting aspect of the table still is its soft, rounded edges; and as Karim largely believes, have no straight lines.
Karim says, “straight line doesn’t exist in nature,” therefore the design should be humanized in form, and it should have soft edges if it is to contact with our fragile human body.

This is carefully considered in the design of the Kiuso table, which is a unique spectacle in both vertical and horizontal orientations. The table is only a concept at the moment. There is no information on when or if it will see the day of light and how it will be priced then.
