Bali-based Stilt Studios has created a new prefabricated tiny house made from recycled Tetra Pak cartons. Tiny Tetra House is designed to promote local, circular economies. The first prototype is under construction and will be on sale in October this year.
The 64-square-meter tiny home also includes glass, wood, and recycled materials in construction. It is elevated 40 cm off the ground to reduce its impact on the environment. The architecture also makes use of the recycled materials’ reflective characteristics, while strategically organizing the openings to view corridors.
Stilt Studios has used corrugated sheets made of recycled Tetra Pak beverage cartons by @ecobalirecycle for creating walls and roofs of the prototype house. To reduce the waste problem, Tetra Pak created poly roof panels made from 25% plastic and aluminium from their package cartons.
The top layer of aluminium helps to ensure that the roof is 100% waterproof. The design of the sloping roof further channels rainwater through the given structural system for further watering the surrounding garden.
Alexis Dornier, co-founder and Chief Designer at Stilt Studios, said,
At Stilt Studios we believe we have the responsibility for both creating unique designs and reducing the environmental impact of our buildings. The (Tetra House) design includes a bedroom, en-suite bathroom, open kitchen, and living room, as well as outdoor terraces.

The studio has also listed the project on Kickstarter to raise funds and get community feedback on their prototype. You can support the project without a reward for €10 (approx. US $12). However, if you are interested you could be able to buy the prefabricated tiny house this October.
