Traditional Japanese carpentry is known for creating wooden furniture and even houses without the use of any nails or screws. It is done with elaborate wooden joints that interlock different wood pieces together. These are indeed woodworking skills for sure; however, South Korean designer Joo Ho Young did something different to make a chair that assembles without any screws and tools. He has come up with TEMP chair that utilizes a luggage strap to keep all the parts together.
Justifying its name, the TEMP chair is a fold-away chair that can be assembled only when you need it. The chair comprises five OSB panels that are tied using a single cargo strap with ratchets. The luggage strap, which can withstand more than 700kg creates a sturdy chair without using any screws, joints, or any other hardware. This strap is also used to wrap the panels after flat-packing the chair.

All the five panels that make up the chair group together, and there is a handle on one panel for carrying the entire chair package easily. This chair has a wider seat, which allows the user to sit in various postures. Furthermore, the lower part of the chair can be used as storage space.
OSB panels have enough strength to support the weight of a normal person and they come with a wood chip pattern that looks really cool. This chair follows Joo Ho Young’s creative thought of having a temporary chair.
