Chinese electronics brand Baseus has brought its latest outdoor security camera S2 to CES 2025. The highlight? It tracks the sun. The sun-powered S2 security camera has solar tracking technology, advanced motion detection, and a wireless design. This camera adjusts the angle of its solar panel to maximize sun exposure.
Baseus’ S2 builds on the success and technology of its S1. S1 had a 3K resolution, which comes enhanced to 4K with a 145-degree field of view and night vision capabilities. Baseus’ new security camera features dual sensor detection, merging PIR motion sensing with radar for better measures. This helps enhance the precise accuracy in tracking movement and reducing false alarms triggered by animals or weather.
The battery of the new security device extends to 210 days. The S2 can potentially function indefinitely using the battery-charging solar panel on top. The panel tilts itself 40 degrees to the right and left to better harness the solar power throughout the day. This improves the efficiency by 30 percent compared to stationary panels and reduces the need for manual charging.
Since there is no need to connect the security camera to a power source, S2 can be installed within five minutes. It is a great alternative for places where getting a power line is expensive or problematic. You simply need a place with abundant sun exposure, if you want to run it on solar energy and a Wi-Fi network.
There is no subscription fees as everything S2 captures with its 4K camera gets stored locally on the device. You can even expand the storage capacity with a microSD card up to 256GB in size.

The recordings are remotely accessible through a mobile app. Thanks to its AI-powered object detection, the camera distinguishes between people, pets, and vehicles. You can even define activity zones for the camera to focus on through the app.
The sun-tracking S2 security camera is compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The only downside is that it doesn’t support 24/7 nonstop recording.
