Netherlands-based RV manufacturer Bliss Mobil doesn’t produce traditional campers. It rather offers standardized container concepts that can be customized and integrated with various truck types, such as the Unimog, Mercedes Atego, and larger platforms like the Ford F-350. Earlier this year, we covered the company’s Bliss Mobil 13-Foot High-Bed Camper, which is compatible with any 4×4 truck. This time around, we’ll take a look at the company’s smallest model to date, the Bliss 8.
Akin to its predecessor, the Bliss 8 features a hard-walled lift roof, off-grid power, smart-home tech, and modular construction. We’ll get to all these details, but first, let’s start with the camper’s compatibility. Unlike traditional expedition rigs that require massive, heavy-duty platforms, the Bliss 8 keeps things nimble, aiming for more accessible 4×4 bases, while still delivering true off-grid capability. “With a dry weight of under 2000lbs (approx), the 8-foot model can be mounted on a wide range of pickups, including models like Toyota, Ford, Dodge, and more,” the company says.
But that’s not all. The company further points out that “the camper is compact enough to drive straight into a standard container,” making it easy to transport worldwide. Although Bliss initially hinted that midsize pickups like the Ranger or Gladiator could carry it, the company later clarified to New Atlas that the U.S. market is better suited to one-ton trucks like the Ram 3500, which can safely handle the camper’s roughly 2,000lbs weight.
Similar to the company’s other models, the camper features an electro-actuated, hard-walled telescopic roof that expands at the push of a button. During travel, the roof lowers to create a sleek, low-profile silhouette with the upper walls tucked neatly behind protective exterior panels, even covering the windows from getting smashed during transport. Once parked, the roof rises to add nearly 2.5 feet of additional headroom, growing from a compact 5.1-foot travel height to a comfortable, livable interior.
Inside, Bliss Mobil offers a surprisingly functional layout. This includes a width-spanning queen-size bed that sleeps two, while a compact dinette and sofa accommodate an occasional third traveler. Buyers can choose between two bathroom configurations: a clever entryway-shower layout with a raised macerator toilet, or a rear-wall bathroom that shortens the dinette but offers a more traditional design.
The kitchen is compact yet complete. It features a sink, dual-hob induction cooktop, and a 95-L compressor fridge/freezer. A 235-litre freshwater tank with carbon and UV filtration lets travelers safely refill from natural water sources, making the module ideal for extended off-grid journeys. Powering the rig is an 860-W solar array paired with a 330-Ah lithium battery bank, ensuring long-term independence without constant reliance on an external power. A diesel air heater and electric floor heating provide year-round comfort, while optional air conditioning extends its usability in various climates.

Technology adds another layer of convenience, with smart-home control, GPS, 4G Wi-Fi, Sonos audio, and an exterior antenna to enhance connectivity in remote regions. Built from insulated sandwich panels—6 cm on the lower walls and 3 cm on the telescoping upper level—the Bliss 8 is engineered for durability, weather resistance, and thermal efficiency. Since all utilities and systems are self-contained within the module, it can be removed and mounted on another truck later, extending its lifespan far beyond a single vehicle.
All said and done, Bliss’ latest model highlights the company’s ability to scale its design language across platforms, from heavy off-road haulers to lightweight 4×4 micro-RVs, while maintaining the same focus on durability, independence, and global travel readiness. That said, interested camper enthusiasts can purchase the Bliss Mobil 8, which starts at €120,000 in the European market, while U.S. pricing begins at US$160,000.
