On an average, a large amount of food organic waste is generated in homes if we consider it in the long term, so it’s a good idea to recycle the organic waste for nourishing plants at home. Generally, people assume composting machine as a rubbish dustbin like thing, that one needs to put in some dull corner of the house. But Bono designed by Poland-based Ala Sieradzka is a chic compost pot that uses earthworm species Eisenia fetida to process organic waste within two to three months. She developed it as her MA diploma project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland and it also qualified for the exhibition ‘make me’ during Lodz Design Festival.

Bono portable home composter is easy to use. All you need to do is to prepare its base with damp paper, soil, shredded newspaper and finally put in the earthworms for blessing the plans. But most important is to put food waste such as peels of fruits and vegetables, coffee grounds and fragmented shells of eggs on regular intervals or we can say depending on the container capacity and needs of earthworms you have put inside.

Its main container is made of powder coated aluminum, whereas base and cap are made of expanded cork that gives it a modern look. Under the main container, there is a sliding tray with a bowl to collect the dripping liquid which can be reused for watering plants. With such simple and innovative design, this stylish kitchen composter pot proves to be a great concept for indoor gardeners to create nourishing fertilizer for herbs.
