It is preposterous how so few of our modern design conceptions actually deal with the scope of sleeping, which statistically accounts for one-third of an average person’s lifetime. Well, according to designers Marshall Haas and Jon Wheatley, it also takes around 90 seconds each day to make a bed with regular bedding, which when added – results to around 30 days lost (to bed making) in a lifetime.

As a simple solution, they have conceived the ‘Smart Bedding’, a bed that can be made in just 2 seconds. The core practicality of the design entails the connection of the duvet cover and the top sheet with the help of a snap system. So, when you sleep you cannot rumple the top sheet, due to its ‘internal attachment’ with the upper duvet cover.

Now, as far as the christening is concerned, the designers might have gone a bit overboard with the conception’s ‘smart’ credentials. However, the Smart Bedding does pose as a simple, straightforward answer to the daily drudgery of bed making.

For example, now you can directly dive into your bed’s tightly fitted sheet, without worrying about the early morning crumpled state of the top sheet. Moreover, the Smart Bedding comes as a collective set (available in various colors and sizes) that covers all the types of sheets, including a duvet cover, top sheet, fitted sheet, pillow and sham.

This makes it easier for the user to apply these customized items over any mattress and bed size he/she is accustomed to.

Smart Bedding was also successfully funded on Kickstarter which speaks a lot about its popularity.
