Yesterday, I found Cocoa tiny house by Modern Tiny Living and the 160-square-foot dwelling was the smallest I ever saw. But trumping the compact abode form factor is the Cahute tiny house on wheels which is only 107-square-foot in total area. Created by La Richardais-based eco tiny house manufacturer Cahute, the ultra-compact Cahute may be the tiniest tiny you’ll ever see, if I’m not surprised yet again!

Nomadic by nature, the Cahute is the first hand-built eco-friendly caravan, which is fully registered in Europe. The tiny house on wheels carries a wild camping ethos at its heart and offers a very simple approach to sustainability. By truly embracing the downsized lifestyle, the Cahute cuts down the costs and the overall footprint.

The Brittany-based team specifically created the Cahute to travel the roads in Europe while having a minimal environmental impact. It weighs less than two tons and provides easy portability while offering the comforts of a traditional home.

The Cahute features a sloped aluminum roof and small windows dotting the structure. Both interior and exterior layers are made of poplar treated with the ancient Japanese technique of wood charring.

Built on a single-axle trailer, the front door of the ultra-compact dwelling opens into the kitchen. The tiny kitchen features a small sink and foot-actuated water pump, and an integrated cooktop. On the other side of the door is a storage area with fabric shelves and bookshelves. Next to the bookshelf is a tiny office space with a gas heater beneath.

Opposite the door is a sofa that extends into a two-person bed and features storage space underneath. There is a fold-down table for dining and has integrated storage to keep condiments and spices. Overhead, a bedroom loft is located accessible via a ladder.

The Cahute also managed to fit a tiny house inside its petite form. It includes a composting toilet, a copper shower, and a canister of 20 liters. The basic Cahute model starts at $33,000, while the off-grid Cahute tiny house comes for $49,500.
