Danish furniture manufacturer Carl Hansen & Søn is well known for its collaborations with veteran designers like Hans J. Wegner and Grete Jalk – who are celebrated for their significant contribution to defining the early Scandinavian aesthetic. In recent years, the brand has also started partnering up with contemporary designers who continue the legacy of traditional Danish craftsmanship but in a modern way. Rikke Frost is one such designer whose popular Sideways Series, started by Carl Hansen & Søn in 2020, has recently been expanded with new pieces.
The Sideways Series has been updated with the new RF1904 Sideways lounge chair and RF1905 Sideways coffee table. Designed as an organic expression for contemporary spaces, both pieces combine classic materials with modern asymmetric forms.
RF1904 Sideways Lounge Chair
The Sideways lounge chair stands out with its organic sculptural shape – with a steam-bent wooden back and woven paper cord string detailing, just like its predecessor Sideways sofa. RF1905 Sideways Coffee Table
The Sideways coffee table complements the soft curves of the lounge chair with a dynamic round shape with a reversible tabletop in wood and laminate.
