Making new versions of classic designs is common these days, but it is not just the designer’s fame that matters; the design itself is important. This was the idea for Norway-based Eikund when it brought back the Veng chair by Torbjørn Bekken almost 10 years ago. The chair is still its best-selling product. Now, the brand is adding three new pieces to the Veng collection.

Eikund wanted to add some missing pieces to the collection, focusing on lounging and dining in comfort and style. It has now decided to offer a version of the chair without armrests. Interestingly, the original Veng drawing was a dining chair without armrests or a lounge version. This classic Veng dining chair is being brought back to life.

The Veng dining chair is the smallest in the Veng series, but still stands out with its unique character. It was designed while Bekken was working at the innovative firm Rastad & Relling Tegnekontor. With its striking, sculptural look, this once-forgotten Norwegian design is now gaining recognition.

The brand has also introduced a counter stool and a bar stool. These classic stools, crafted from solid wood and finished with upholstery, combine comfort and timeless design.

Eikund is dedicated to reviving classic Norwegian design treasures that are built to last, and the Veng collection perfectly illustrates its legacy. The chair’s signature curved backrest not only defines its look but also provides utmost comfort. The Veng’s smooth, organic lines and striking sculptural form make it a true design icon.

This Norwegian design classic combines sleek mid-century modern style with fine natural materials. According to its maker, it is an unexpected adventure for some, but it proves that Norwegian design history still matters today. It is one of 11 Norwegian brands showcasing their rich tradition at the “Inside Norway” exhibition during 3daysofdesign, 2025.
