A visit to the Anker stand at IFA Berlin revealed the EufyMake E1 UV printer in action. Yes, the same printer that took Kickstarter by storm when Anker released the crowdfunding campaign for the printer developed by its sub-brand. The E1, billed as the world’s first personal 3D texture UV printer, is now officially released for a sticker price of $2,000 with a release date vaguely mentioned for later this year. Though reports have it that early backers have already received units, even before the public unveiling.

What sets the printer apart – and perhaps had over 17,000 Kickstarter backers show love to the tune of $45 million – is that the printer is capable of creating 3D textures. It is designed essentially for home use by individuals, small businesses, or creators. E1 puts professional-grade UV printing into a desktop device that just about anyone can use to print 3D textures on a range of materials up to 5 mm thick.

The printer can print textures in millions of true colors on various objects and over 300 different materials including wood, metal, ceramic, and even leather. This is made possible with a UC-curable ink combined with in-house Amass3D technology, which allows the printer to ink textured designs on flat and curved surfaces at a resolution as high as 1,440 DPI.

If you are into printing stationery, signage, or decorative decals and apparel, this printer – despite its high ticket price – should be a game changer for you. Imagine printing a 3D texture on a T-shirt from the comfort of your home or small studio. The printer allows you to 3D texture print up to 2 mm and works on multiple file types that support 3D texture generation.

Also setting it apart from anything else available in a similar form factor is the E1 UV flatbed printer’s modular design that can print up to 10-meter-long roll-on-film. It comes with laser levelers, ColorMaestro system for full color prints, and an 8MP camera with an AI positioning feature to always get the printing right.

To ensure you never have to get your hands dirty on this guy, it comes with a JetClean feature. It is a self-cleaning system along with the printer’s auto-calibration feature. Given what the EufyMake E1 UV printer can pull off, I’m sure most of us want it at home. But that price tag is way beyond me. What do you think?
