In 2015, a 50-year-old carpenter contractor, Chris Broomfield, with his wife, acquired a five-acre plot of land in Remsen, New York, for $27,000. Since the land was bought, he had a vision of turning it into a breathtaking getaway for nature lovers. Soon, Broomfield started working on an A-frame cabin. Every weekend, he would commute from his family’s home to work on the cabin all by himself. With decades of experience in carpentry, he picked the spot surrounded by a lake, dense woods, and rolling hills. He saw the land’s potential with multiple cabins, and that’s when his vision expanded. Broomfield also mentioned in a talk with CNBC, “I always knew it was going to be an Airbnb property. I knew I was going to put multiple cabins on it.”
He was working on the cabin himself, but he hired an outside helper to drill a well, an electrician to wire the cabin, and somebody to hang the sheetrock. After three years of consistent hard work, he managed to build a stunning A-frame cabin with one bedroom and one bathroom for $90,000. After the cabin went viral as an Airbnb rental, which in turn earned him the reputation of a ‘superhost,’ he built two more cabins nearby, turning the expansive property, which he christened Evergreen Cabins, into a booming Airbnb business.
Broomfield built the A-frame cabin, featuring an open design with a living room, kitchen/dining, bedroom with a motorized king-size roll-out bed, and a bathroom. The place is quite luxurious and offers a perfect escape into the wild. There are plenty of outdoor and indoor activities, too, such as board games, smart TV, BBQ grill, fire pit, outdoor decks, front and back decks, and more to lose your mind and body.
The success of the A-frame cabin inspired him to work on his second project, which was the Treehouse at Evergreen Cabins. The Treehouse has a modern-rustic design, accompanied by high-end amenities. The interior is swamped with natural light, coming through floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a living room for relaxing and playing games, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a spacious outdoor area with a fire pit, BBQ, private pond, small deck, and more. The Treehouse offers 1,200 square feet of living space, quite enough to spend days in sheer idleness.
The Treehouse cabin is slightly raised from the ground, almost 14 feet. To reach it, visitors must cross an expansion bridge on the property. It was also an instant success, which encouraged him to build another rental at Evergreen Cabin.
Dubbed Birch Falls Spa Cabin, he invested a total amount of $160,000 to build it. This is another jaw-dropping build with a bedroom, living area, well-equipped kitchen, bathroom, and private guest access. The highlight of this cabin is a spa room with an 18-foot-long indoor waterfall, massage bed, soaker jet tub, and more. There’s also a private patio to explore the serene surroundings.
The prices of the cabins at Evergreen Cabins range from $380 to $700 a night. As of September 2025, Broomfield’s business at Evergreen Cabins has churned him around 2.5 million since the listing of his very first property in 2018, according to CNBC Make It. This ultimate trio of cabins offers a break from the fast-paced tempo of modern life, a refuge to nature lovers and thrill-seekers alike. Now, Broomfield spends most of his time designing and working on new cabins while rejoicing in the legacy of Evergreen Cabins, which will be passed on to his family.
