Although smart home tech dominated at CES 2026, some RVs were also present at the event, including the AI-THt 24-ft mobile trailer and California-based company Evotrex’s new PG5 trailer. The latter one stood out for its unique capability to generate energy. Designed specifically for an off-grid lifestyle with EVs, it is touted as the world’s first power-generating RV trailer. The generated energy can be used to run onboard appliances and systems for extended trips, as well as power the towing EV for better range.

At the heart of the Evotrex-PG5 is a unified energy system that combines a 43 kWh LFP battery, 1.5 kW of solar panels, and Evotrex’s Horizon gas-powered onboard generator to produce its own electricity. Additionally, regenerative energy is produced while towing the trailer. Together, this setup can deliver over 270 kWh of total usable power on a single cycle.

The PG5 also features RangeBoost V2V charging, which enables it to charge an electric tow vehicle while in motion. It even stabilizes EV battery levels during travel to extend the vehicle range. The trailer also supports V2L power export, allowing you to run tools, cooking equipment, and campsite gear directly from the trailer. Self-generated power can also be used as backup energy for a home during power outages.

All the energy use is managed through an intelligent energy management system with built-in diagnostics and real-time monitoring. Users can track battery health, fuel levels, solar input, tank status, and power consumption while the system automatically optimizes charging, generator use, and HVAC loads. A dedicated tablet with the Evotrex app allows you to control lighting, climate, power distribution, tire pressure, water tanks, and onboard systems. There are also exterior cameras to provide a real-time bird’s-eye view to remotely navigate tight parking spots or reposition the trailer.

Apart from energy-related features, Evotrex has also taken care of the mobility of the trailer. It is equipped with a motorized assist system that reduces drag and strain on the tow vehicle while improving stability and extending EV range. Once detached, the same motor allows remote-controlled maneuvering for easy parking and positioning at a campsite.

In other highlights, the trailer uses an automotive-grade air suspension system that allows you to raise it for more ground clearance on rugged terrain or lower it for stability and aerodynamics on the highway. A reinforced automotive chassis, double-axle design, and all-terrain tires further enhance the ability to tackle difficult roads.

One of the trailer’s most striking features is its motorized 43-square-foot patio deck. With a single button press, the rear panel lowers to create a spacious outdoor platform ideal for relaxing, dining, or enjoying scenic views. The inner hatch extends outward to provide shade, and the system can convert into a ramp for loading bikes, boards, and other gear easily.

Inside, the Evotrex-PG5 trailer offers a home-like living space. It includes a queen bed, a convertible dinette that sleeps two additional adults. Also provided are high-efficiency appliances and premium materials throughout the space. There is a kitchen with a double-burner induction cooktop, convection microwave, range hood, and refrigerator, while the dry bath features a full shower and toilet. Large openable windows with integrated bug screens and shades are also incorporated in the design to enhance airflow, while thoughtfully placed lighting enhances visibility and ambience.

While Evotrex PG5 is a new product for 2026, several companies have launched trailers with “active propulsion” and remote-maneuvering trailer technology earlier, which includes the Pebble Flow and Lightship L1.

The Evotrex-PG5 is now available for pre-order, with production expected to begin by the end of 2026, followed by deliveries shortly after. Pricing starts at $119,990 for the standard Evotrex-PG5 Pioneer model, while the fully loaded Evotrex-PG5 Atlas is priced at $159,990.
