Your camping tent may be rated to handle cold weather but without a good sleeping pad, your sleep still can be ruined by cold and discomfort. While many options are available on the market, Flextail has upped the ante with its new product touted as the world’s lightest, automatic inflation sleeping pad. You do not have to carry a pump along anymore, a miniature-sized electric pump is included in the package.

The Flextail inflatable mat employs AVS technology for built-in automatic inflation and deflation. It is a combination of an Air Capsule and an Air Valve. The Air Capsule is a specially designed micro motor with 3kPa power, while the Air Valve is integrated into the product. You need to connect the Air Valve to inflate the mat automatically. It can inflate more than 10 pads on a single charge.

Made from 20D nylon and double-sided aluminum film, this 9cm thick sleeping pad features a 5-layer construction. There are additional air chambers in the pad for better thermal performance. When packed, it becomes a small bag you can easily carry in your backpack.

If you are looking for a sleeping pad with a higher R-value, you can go for the R09 flagship model that claims to offer 9.5 R-value. Measuring 20 inches long, it weighs about 17.2 oz and can work in up to -35°C temperatures. There are also R03 and R05 models with a temperature range from 5°C to -5°C respectively. Each of the models can further be chosen in size options.

Flextail is currently running a crowdfunding campaign for inflatable sleeping pads on Indiegogo. You can back the project for as little as $159 to get started with the R09 model.
