Pop-up camping trailers have gained popularity over the past few years. People prefer more headroom and a little more space, making mobile living more like home for a small family. From SkyeRV 14-00 and Invader Viator to Lightship L1 electric travel trailer and solar-powered Honda Base Station trailer, various examples utilize this headroom-enhancing strategy. All of these models feature a tent-style rising roof, but Forest River’s Rockwood A123RG model goes a totally different way. What distinguishes it from others is the hard-sided construction, which provides better insulation and security.
The main highlight here is the “Power Roof Lift,” which uses an electric motor to raise the heavy roof at the push of a button. The design becomes even more interesting with the roof taking an A-frame shape that makes it look more like a holiday cottage. Forest River says this feature is exclusive to Dormer units, and there are plans to add it as a standard feature in future campers.
The A-frame raised roof also enhances the interior space. After entering, you’ll get a spacious feeling thanks to the high ceiling. The layout features a large 76 x 80-inch gaucho bed in the rear, with an under-bunk air conditioning unit. Next to the bed area is a central dining space with a table and seating.
Toward the front of the camper, the plan includes a small kitchen area with a fridge, cooktop, and sink with a glass cover to maximize counter space. There is also a wet bath, featuring a shower and toilet in the front corner. This space is neatly concealed within the seating and is located across from the kitchen. Autoevolution pointed out that the storage options are located on the lower level because the upper level and walls are not permanently fixed.
The 2026 Rockwood A123RG features a total exterior length of 16.5 feet in both its open and closed configurations. It comes in at a closed height of 5.7 feet and an overall width of 84 inches, making it great for tight roads. Built on a 12-foot box size, the camper has an unloaded vehicle weight (UVW) of 2,193 lbs and a hitch weight of 310 lbs. This means it has a cargo carrying capacity (CCC) of 1,117 lbs for gear and supplies.
The travel trailer is equipped with a 125W Roof solar panel and a 26-gallon (98.5-liter) water tank with a water filtration system for off-grid living. To make it capable of year-round living, the camper includes a 20,000 BTU furnace and an 11,000 BTU under-bunk air conditioner.
