GE Lighting has introduced its new smart shades at the CES 2026. The Matter-compatible shades are designed to bring convenience to new-age homes that are always hungry for a smart ecosystem. The unique aspect of these smart shades by GE Lighting is that they do not come with a hefty price tag and complement any indoor setting with their sleek design.

The GE smart shades are pretty easy to install as they feature a screw-free installation system. They boast a modern look and can be put up in any room or window. Made from aluminum trim and premium fabric, users can choose between blackout or translucent fabrics, like white or gray.

The new Matter-compatible GE smart shades combine smart home comfort and the aesthetics of modern design. They can seamlessly integrate with Matter-enabled platforms for voice and app control. Users can also set automated schedules for their added comfort and energy efficiency. Such schedules allow you to control the smart shades remotely and help natural lighting come indoors when needed. For example, people can schedule smart shades to go up during the daytime, bringing in sunlight.

Users can set these new GE smart shades with Matter Thread-compatible devices like Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings. This is really convenient and goes with the modern offerings of smart devices. In addition, GE promises quiet motor movement to ensure the users remain unbothered by the motion of the shades.

Talking to the media, Kara Perdue, VP of Product Management at GE Lighting, stated. “Many smart shades feel intimidating or overly complicated. GE smart shades take a different approach – focusing on simplicity, flexibility, and a clean aesthetic that fits naturally into everyday homes.”

Moreover, the design is sophisticated owing to white or black frames that perfectly pair with the fabric options. The new GE Smart Shades start from $300. All shades are 76 inches long and can be adjusted to any length. So if you are looking to upgrade, these might be the best option this year.
