The Denmark-based HAY design house has two million followers on Instagram, and they’ve created a buzz with their reinterpretation of the X-Line Chair, getting more than 10,000 likes already. The furniture piece was originally designed in the 1970s by designer Niels Jørgen Haugesen. This reincarnation has infused new life into this classic design which reimagines the stackable chairs in a variety of interesting colors and finishes.
Ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, the X-Line Chair revives Danish history with a blend of modernity, celebrating differentiating hues that look artistic. The stackable seating furniture is available in singular colors co-curated by the Haugesen estate; including green, white, metallic and green. There is a celebratory vibe about the finish of the X-Line Chair, as it looks amazing when stacked in varied hues.
In the 1970s, this chair was popular owing to its industrial appeal and stackability which looked great for seating and saving space aesthetics. The modern chair reimagination by Hay proves that this design is still relevant owing to the minimalistic look. HAY co-founder Rolf Hay stated that the X-Line Chair is one of their furniture pieces that was completely developed in Denmark. It was beautifully conceived and gave minimal object construction a fresh breath, inspiring a generation of designers. Haugesen worked under Anne Jacobsen during the 1960s and chose to practice independently in 1971. It took him six years to finally launch the X-line chair in the original chromed finish.

The body of the chair had sharp design elements with chrome wire and perforated steel, making it highly functional and beautiful. Not just that, when the chairs are stacked they reveal an X shape giving them the obvious name.
