At KBIS 2026, InSinkErator debuted its new LEDefense technology, a first-of-a-kind solution designed to eliminate odors and bacteria directly at the sink opening. Unlike standard disposals, this system targets pathogens at the cellular level using light frequencies that are safe for humans but lethal to microbes.

The product line intends to protect the sink environment by using a sink flange with Vyv’s antimicrobial LED technology, engineered to isolate a portion of the visible light spectrum between 400-420 nanometers. The system emits a pleasant purplish-blue light from within the sink opening and is designed to be always-on. This helps users verify at a glance that the unit is receiving power and actively defending against bacteria.

There are two configurations of the garbage disposal and the sink flange, both using the new LEDefense technology. The first is the Advanced Series Pro 1250 LED, which uses a 1.25 HP Dura-Drive induction motor and is the most powerful one of the two, featuring SoundSeal technology for whisper-quiet operation. It uses four-stage multi-grind technology to pulverize waste and helps prevent drain clogs. Therefore, it can easily handle tough fibrous scraps like corn cobs and small bones.

The second is the Advanced Series Pro 1000 LED Garbage Disposal, which also includes SoundSeal technology while featuring a 1.0 Dura-Drive Induction Motor along with four-stage multi-grind technology, just like the other model.

The LEDefense sink flange is designed to kill up to 99 percent of odor-causing bacteria in the sink. It is sold both as a separate accessory and as a part of the advanced series. It prevents the buildup of mold and grime and is highly efficient by drawing less than 4.7 watts of power. The InSinkErator with LEDefense is now available for purchase through the company website and various online retailers.
