The VOUW studio based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, designed the Bloomlight S. It is an interactive light that blooms like a real flower. It senses your presence and bends toward you to share a soft illumination. This lamp is designed to give a soft and focused glow, making it a perfect reading companion. The studio is exhibiting this interactive during Dutch Design Week 2025.
The design of Bloomlight S was inspired by nature. Even the different colors of lighting are inspired by the soft hues of real flowers. The studio stated, “It is the first interactive floor lamp ever created blending the light, motion and presence into a single poetic gesture.”
Now you must be wondering how it works. There is a built-in sensor that detects your presence and gently activates the lamp’s motion. If you prefer the lamp to be open all the time, there is a button for that as well. This lighting can be used for both house and office use. It is made from aluminum, glass fiber, steel cable, ASA and custom electronics. These materials add strength while maintaining the lightness. The appearance of the lighting makes it a unique tactile beauty.
The floor lamp is 6.4 feet tall when fully upright. Its base is compact but sturdy and has dimensions of 1.3 feet in length and 1 feet in width. It makes it easier to fit near a chair, a bed, or a quiet corner. The lamp uses approximately 12 watts on average, same as a standard desk lamp.
The lighting colors come in various options that resemble soft hues of flowers. You can also use the warm light glow for regular use. There is a button on the base that allows you to adjust the brightness in case you need more contrast. There is absolutely no requirement for screens or apps. You just need to touch the button.

In terms of its assembly, you have to assemble it yourself but it doesn’t require any tool. All you have to do is follow the instructions. It is easy to assemble. The entire set up takes only few minutes.
