Hello Wood is a Budapest-based design studio that has been making wooden cabins for the past many years. Famous for its unique design and construction, the studio has grabbed headlines in top architecture magazines across the globe. The studio’s recent creation ‘Jet House’ is now the talk of the town for its eccentric design.
Lujzi Pados, a 12-year-old girl, approached the studio to design the flying cabin of her dreams. Fascinated with flying on aircraft, Lujzi wanted a playhouse where she could invite her friends over. Working on the client’s instruction Hello Wood designed an airplane-shaped cabin finished in pastel blue akin to the planes we’ve seen in cartoon channels and comic books.
Nestled in the hills of Zala County, the cabin features friendly arcs and curves, and round windows. The windows allow natural light to pass in and kiss the playful interior of the cabin that combines functionality and fantasy together. From the outside, it looks like a beautiful giant toy, but inside is a playhouse for a teenager. It is a full-fledged, functional tiny house.
The plane’s wings form spacious terraces and can be used for sitting and resting. There is a short flight of airport stairs that leads to the front door. Inside, there is a desk featuring multiple storage sections. Furnished with two actual airplane seats, which Lujzi and her father collected, there is a feel of realism to the structure.
Other than the airplane seats, the interior of the cabin includes a small kitchen, bathroom, built-in desk, and a bench, as well as a bed for the client to sleep.

Tamás Fülöp, the Jet House’s project architect stated;
“We were happy to accept the unusual assignment. As an architect, it is an inspiring task to design a structure that has to be cute. It was also a challenge to incorporate traditional architectural elements into the sculptural shape, such as waterproofing, vapor barrier, and thermal insulation.”
