Kimbo is a popular name in the aluminum truck camper industry owing to its lightweight yet durable construction. The all-new Kimbo 8 takes this legacy further by adding more space for family use and long-term livability. It is now specifically designed for full-sized 8-foot truck beds. What makes it even more special is the inclusion of a permanent wet bathroom that was missing in the previous model. It also includes a queen-size loft bed and a convertible dinette area that transforms into a sleeping nook.
While it retains the signature riveted aluminum “tiny cabin” aesthetic, the insulation has been upgraded from R5 to R10, making it more suitable for all-weather use. The exterior structure now has an option for gallery windows for extra natural light and views.
New Atlas notes that there is now more exterior storage with a dedicated propane bay on the passenger side and a rear cubby for gear, like a portable generator. On the inside, the Kimbo 8 has a larger integrated layout with defined living zones.
It has a fixed wet bathroom at the rear with a draining shower module and a cassette toilet. The shower can be upgraded with re-circulating water management systems for less water and energy use. There are also options to include a composting toilet and an external grey water tank.
The kitchen space has more room to move comfortably inside. The living room area has an L-shaped seating area. The camper accommodates a bigger 60 × 80-inch queen-size mattress in the loft, while the dinette converts into an additional sleeping nook. There is also an option for a bunk module for kids, making it a family camper.

For power, the truck camper has expanded solar capacity, a large battery system, and a dedicated generator bay for longer off-grid travel. The Kimbo 8 truck camper has a dry weight starting at 1,275 lbs (578 kg), which goes up with upgrades and build options you choose.
The price starts at $42,990, and the build takes 8-12 weeks for completion. The first Kimbo 8 prototype was recently showcased at the Overland Expo SoCal.
