Kickstarter can be tricky. Some projects, albeit massively hyped, fall flat; others turn out to be quite a success. KYS VERO 500 PRO, a professional-grade 500 degrees Celsius (950 degrees Fahrenheit) electric pizza oven “designed for chefs, enthusiasts, and perfectionists,” seems to be on the latter side of the spectrum. Despite no major marketing effort behind the campaign, KYS VERO 500 PRO has attracted over 500 backers, with pledges of over $392,000 (at the time of writing). With 18 days left in the campaign and given the early response, we expect those numbers to increase significantly. But what makes the project so hyped? Well, the secret lies in the product itself.
Designed and manufactured by Norwegian startup KYS, the VERO 500C is a compact electric pizza oven that reaches 500 degrees Celsius (950 degrees Fahrenheit) and bakes authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas in under 90 seconds. This is possible courtesy of the oven’s Boost Function, which, as per the maker, “recreates the explosive heat of a wood-fired oven exactly when you need it.”
In simple terms, the VERO 500C’s Boost Function gives the oven a quick burst of extra heat whenever you open the door. It helps restore lost temperature fast, ensuring your pizza cooks evenly every time.
A 2,400W dual-element heating system powers the appliance. It preheats in just 15 minutes using a standard 120V or 240V household outlet, with no propane tanks, wood pellets, or open flames required. The oven features a handcrafted Italian Biscotto stone floor, made from the same volcanic clay used in Naples’ legendary wood-fired ovens, for exceptional heat retention and moisture absorption.

Capable of baking 12-16-inch pizzas, the oven weighs only 52 lbs and measures 22 × 18 × 14 inches. Its powder-coated aluminum body and stainless steel interior ensure durability, while a cool-touch exterior, auto shut-off, and side-vented dome design enhance safety and airflow for consistent convection. Digital controls allow precise temperature adjustment from 100 degrees Celsius to 500 degrees Celsius.
For anyone craving wood-fired-style pizza without the uncertainties of a brick oven, this might be the perfect solution, and it’s quickly picking up momentum on Kickstarter. The interested can reserve a unit for an early bird price of €663 (roughly $770).
