Materials Needed:
- Brown packaging paper
- Antique Gold Rub ‘n Buff
- Brown ink pad
- Jute string
- Hot glue
- Scissors
- Glue gun
Instructions for DIY Fall Leaf Garland:
- Cut out a single leaf and use it as a stencil to cut out multiple leaves at the same time by placing it on a stack of paper and cutting simultaneously
- To make the paper leaves look realistic, gently crumple each one in your hands to create natural folds
- Then, either use your fingertip or a small paintbrush to lightly apply antique gold Rub ’n Buff in random spots on both sides
- Next, take brown ink and drag it over the crumpled surface on both sides. This brings out the texture and depth of the leaves
- Cut a piece of jute twine of the size you want your garland to be
- Tie a knot where you want each side to drop around the door, mantel, or wherever you are hanging the garland. Lay the twine on a piece of cardboard to make the assembly of the leaves easier
- Starting at one end, add a bead of hot glue along the twine, press a leaf over the glue, and scrunch gently to create more dimension. Continue gluing the leaves and scrunching them, giving them a natural look
- Work down on one side of the drop and then repeat on the other side
- After finishing both sides, fill the center of the twine with the same process
- Now comes all the fun. Style your leaf garland according to your wish and enjoy
Note: Wear gloves or silicone finger protectors while using the hot glue.
That is it. This DIY leaf garland comes from Sunnyside Home. Display over cupboards or even on a wall for a rustic, visual charm.
