If a furniture piece looks comfortable, it usually is, and that’s true for Sabine Marcelis’ Lisse sofa for laCividina. Its organic, flowing shape feels soft both visually and to the touch. The two-way stretch fabric upholstery fits the sofa and poufs perfectly with minimal seams for a clean and simple appearance. Its single, sweeping backrest gives it a sculptural look, while movable islands make it easy to rearrange as per needs.

As described by the designer, she wanted Lisse to feel like it’s wrapping around you to offer utmost comfort. It is designed to look and feel soft, with a continuous shape inspired by a single, gentle gesture. The sofa elements have an appearance of pebbles smoothed by the flow of water.

The sofa is upholstered with a special recycled polyester fabric called Mylla, which stretches in two directions to fit smoothly over the curves with almost no visible seams. There are only two visible seams in the whole piece, giving it a seamless, sculptural look.

Lisse is a flexible seating system that can be adapted to different contexts without the need for additional elements. Placing an island in front of the backrest turns it into a sofa, and you can add poufs or extra seats separately to create different seating arrangements. This design not only feels nice but also fits well in different spaces, whether at home or in public places.

The collection is the result of Marcelis’s shift from working with hard materials like glass and stone to exploring softness and comfort. Inspired by Pierre Paulin’s 1967 Osaka sofa, the Lisse sofa gives traditional upholstery a fresh and modern twist.

The Lisse sofa collection stands out for its smooth curves, enveloping shape, minimal seams, and ability to adapt to different spaces. It combines sculptural aesthetics, material innovation, and versatility while offering a new perspective on contemporary upholstery.
