Foldable knives are gradually becoming a popular EDC choice as many people realize the importance of a cutting tool outdoors. USA-based Mallery Designs, a renowned name in crafting EDC knives, is also bringing a refined, self-produced version of its Hadros model to enhance its audience reach. The new H2O knife is rebuilt from scratch with new internals, upgraded materials, and comes in a larger size.

Mallery Designs has created two variants of the H2O foldable knife to meet different needs. The first one features a 3.5-inch blade made from 20CV steel. The choice of material makes the knife corrosion-resistant and highly wear-resistant. One disadvantage, as highlighted by the maker, is that it might be difficult to sharpen the knife, but they also note that the craft knife can retain its edge for a very long time.

The second H2O knife model features a 4.25-inch blade with a titanium bolster lock for safety. This design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also offers better ergonomics. The decorative handle comes with scales that sit over the majority of the lockbar for better hand grip. One disadvantage is the cost of manufacturing it, which drives up its eventual price.

H2O EDC knives feature stops hidden inside the frame, which ensures a smooth look, and are shouldered into the frame for greater blade support. With ceramic bearings and detent, the knives open and close smoothly for a fluid feel. Since ceramic balls are smoother than steel, the blade glides open and can “drop shut” with almost zero friction.

The ceramic detent ball further provides a crisp click when the knife locks open or is securely closed to prevent accidentally opening in the pocket. Unlike steel bearings, ceramic bearings will not rust, making them perfect for EDC knives exposed to moisture, sweat, etc.

Mallery Designs has also taken care of durability, carry method, and weight in their knife design. It comes with a titanium pocket clip that resists bending and corrosion. The clip can be moved to either side of the handle to suit left-handed or right-handed users.

The internal parts are adequately milled to keep the pocket knife’s weight below 2.9oz. You can pre-order it now for $175 on Kickstarter. Deliveries will begin in April 2026. The knife will retail for $249 after the crowdfunding campaign.
