The Brazilian architect Marilia Pellegrini is presenting a shipping container home at 2019 Casacor exhibition in São Paulo. He has taken up the project in order to showcase the potential of transforming shipping containers into a luxury house. The dwelling makes use of modern finishes to look like any other contemporary home.
Aside from being based on sustainability and reuse of materials, designing and executing this type of construction model is compact, cleaner, faster and drier, making it a more practical option for modern times. This 60-square-meter house is made from two 40-feet containers attached alongside. There is living area, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and an outdoor area with a curved bench sculpted in Brazilian granite. In addition to that, pieces by famous designers such as Oki Sato add to the sophistication of the house.
The architect said;
I thought that the concept of the house could work very well, for example, as a house for guests in an existing housing area, a minimalist project, that does not compete with any style, not even with nature.
Both the interior and exterior spaces are decked in shades of white that not only improves the living environment but also makes the corrugated structure imperceptible to eyes. The architect has used white Dekton surface and materials that look like marble to cover the external facade, interior walls and floors of the house. He has taken inspiration from the Japanese MUJI hut for the interior design.

This all-white shipping container house follows the principles of minimalism and reuse. It’s constructed in a way that it doesn’t even look like being made up of shipping containers and this was probably the aim of the project.
