Mobel is the result of a collaboration between RISD and MIT students to create seating for young professionals and students who move frequently in their lives. Designed by Tianyi Shi and Max Hampton-Fischer, the Mobel is a unique chair that can be folded into the size of a suitcase for easy transportation.
The Mobel chair is made from felt layered in a honeycomb pattern. Integrated with buttons, it is designed to be as comfortable as your living room chair. Just button it up and it’ll become an easy-to-carry suitcase. The layers of felt add enough strength, comfort, and flexibility to the chair design. When unpacked, it creates a round shape to accommodate two people.

The chair assembles and disassembles with ease. It weighs about 20 lbs thanks to the lightweight felt construction. Long story short, it takes away all worries of furniture transportation.
