Nature plays a big role in our world, with an equal significance in the design industry as well. At Milan Design Week 2025, many designers embraced nature as their inspiration, whether through materials, forms, or overall philosophy. We have rounded up six standout pieces in furniture, lighting, and home accessories that reflect a deep connection with the natural world.
Haori Lounge Chair
Japanese brand Adal’s Haori armchair features a unique woven covering inspired by Kimono dresses. It is made from the rush grass traditionally used for tatami mats that is said to improve air quality by soaking moisture.
Utsuwa-Juhi Series Vases
Winner of the SaloneSatellite Award 2025, these unique vases by Kazuki Nagasawa (Super Rat Design) of Japan are distinguished by their distinctive choice of natural materials. He has used Trachycarpus fortunei bark along with natural persimmon dye and iron solution from scrap metal to create a strong yet soft vessels.

Betsy Furniture Collection
Taking inspiration from birds’ feathers, Lara Bohinc has conceived these unique furniture pieces, handcrafted from vegetable-tanned saddle leather. The concept layers wooden furniture with leather pieces to create a three-dimensional effect like bird feathers.
Vera Lamp by Patrick Jouin
The project combines borosilicate glass and molten glass with bark textures to create a dialogue between nature and engineering. Molten glass is freely poured over a tree trunk to capture its shape and texture.
Horsehair Furniture
The Anachron series by Studio Lugo references Anatolia’s traditions of herding and crafts. These furniture pieces are highlighted by hand-brushed horsehair elements.
LOEWE Teapot
For this year’s Salone del Mobile, LOEWE commissioned a series of teapots by 25 internationally renowned artists, designers, and architects, including a bird-shaped teapot by Suna Fujita. It is covered with detailed artwork by him.
