Japanese firm Nendo, well known for its whimsical product and furniture has launched a new Soft Brick sofa for ichido. True to its name, this modular furniture comprises square-shaped cushions that resemble bricks but are soft enough to ensure comfort. These cushioned modules can be combined in different ways to create various sofa configurations.

Each cushion, whether on the seat or back of the sofa has double stitching with a slight gap on the edge that reveals a different fabric used inside and gives it a brick-like appearance.

Designed by Tjeerd te Dorsthorst, playing with the Soft Brick modular sofa is similar to the game of Tetris where you have to arrange the falling blocks of different shapes.

You simply move and place multiple brick-shaped cushion modules to make your own sofa. The side table module can also be used in the middle of the sofa or toward the end. There are various options to change the size and shape of the sofa.

Going contrary to the curve furniture trend popular in 2022, this modular sofa has a straight profile and linear lines. The designer compares his idea of the sofa with the art of laying bricks to construct a house. No matter whether the couch appears to be made of bricks, it will definitely provide a comfy seating.
