Italian company Unosider that offers a wide range of outdoor living furniture including patio shading, pergolas and pavilions, has teamed up with the award-winning Swiss industrial designer Nicolas Thomkins to create Gate Shade, a freestanding folding arm awning. Made of metal and acrylic, it is a motorized sunshade with two retractable arm curtains that are controllable with a remote control. Furthermore, there are built-in dimmable led strips, 100W speakers USB, Aux and a Bluetooth module with hidden control panel.

Whether closed or open to provide shade underneath, the Gate Shade freestanding folding arm awning serves both aesthetic and functional purpose. It even has an automatic security closure to prevent any mishaps during strong winds. Also, there are options to add counterweights as innovative alternative for fixing to the ground. It can be installed at lawns, decks, poolside, or any outdoor location where you need shade.

There is no option to anchor it to ground. However, Unosider offers planters and benches to keep this cool piece of outdoor furniture stable on the ground. This freestanding folding arm awning is a worthy addition for sure, but it would have been much better if there were solar panels.
