Patricia Urquiola’s Balcoon bathroom series for Duravit subtly combines modernity and timeless elegance. Following its official release last year, the collection has been expanded with additional items and specialized installations like “Balcoon-Scapes” for Fuorisalone 2026. This development demonstrates the ongoing development of the range’s design to improve aesthetics and well-being. Meant for the mid-price range, the collection makes Patricia Urquiola’s design accessible to a wider audience.

Patricia’s design approach blends styles, patterns, and natural elements with a strong focus on sustainability, and the collection reflects her vision very well. The objects in the Balcoon series combine simple, geometric shapes with clean lines, creating a restrained, enduring aesthetic that also radiates warmth and accessibility.

“The design plays with height differences, overhangs and the layering of materials and textures, which is also where the name ‘Balcoon’ comes from. It is a tone that makes the ceramic look even more authentic and handmade,” explains Patricia Urquiola.

One thing common is an earthy terracotta shade that perfectly showcases natural tactility and unique materiality. All the objects emphasize water-saving with features like MinusFlow, AirPlus, and FreshStart that help reduce water use while elevating your space for a conscious lifestyle.

In parallel with new additions, Duravit is presenting the Balcoon-Scapes installation at the 2026 Milan Design Week as an artistic project that transforms core elements of the collection into an abstract, sculptural landscape. The objects transform the space into a living dialogue of form and innovative materials.

The Balcoon-Scapes installation will invite visitors to experience design as a dialogue amongst object, space, and perception, consciously detached from the functional context of the bathroom.
