Smart bulbs offer great convenience until someone switches off the wall switch, cutting out your access to lighting back home. Once the electric supply is interrupted, the smart bulb becomes dumb and can’t be controlled using the app, rendering all the configured scenes useless. This was a problem to date but Philips Hue, one of the most popular brands of smart lights, has come up with a solution – an in-wall switch module.
Installed behind existing light switches, the new Philips Hue wall switch module ensures that Philips Hue smart lights are always reachable. Literally, it turns existing switches smart –three scenes can be assigned to a single switch.
Users can customize the switch functions using the app. There is the freedom to choose light settings and lamps that can be controlled with the switch. The three scenes can be activated by switching the light switch on and off several times.

The Philips Hue wall switch module is powered by a battery and has a lifespan of at least five years. If looking for installation details, you can head over to HueBlog. It is slated to be available in the market later this year and will cost $40.
Apart from the in-wall switch module, Signify has also expanded its Philips Hue line with two new outdoor lights.
