Amazon’s Ring division presented a revamped line of smart home sensors at CES 2026 that do not require a hub to work. These smart home security devices work straight out of the box using the Amazon Sidewalk mesh network that provides long-range connectivity beyond the reach of standard Wi-Fi. These devices are designed to operate during power or internet outages. These sensors are organized into three layers of protection to cover the entire home inside and out.
The first is the Security layer that features door & window sensors along with motion detectors and glass break sensors. Next is the Safety layer that includes devices like flood & freeze sensors, temperature & humidity sensors, as well as air quality and sump pump monitors. This layer also includes sensors that listen for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Lastly, the Control layer focuses on automation through smart plugs, light switches, fan controls, light remote, etc.
Together, these layers deliver a connected security network that protects your home inside and out. The lineup also includes battery-operated sensors that continue working during power outages, while Amazon Sidewalk makes them work even when there is no Wi-Fi.

There is no word about the pricing of Ring hub-less smart home sensors, but they will be available for purchase in March 2026. Initially, Sidewalk and Ring sensors will be launched in Canada and Mexico in the coming months, while Samsung plans to expand to other regions, including the EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan later this year.
Ring has also announced new home security features that expand the capabilities of the Ring ecosystem beyond traditional security into environmental monitoring. The most interesting is the Fire Watch feature powered by Watch Duty, in the Neighbors section of the Ring app, that delivers earlier warnings and real-time information during fire events. It enables Ring camera owners to share snapshots while cameras analyze video for visual signs of smoke or fire.
