Sonos is a renowned name in the audio industry, specifically known for multi-room audio, and people are always waiting for its new products. For 2026, there is no official announcement from the brand for new releases; however, many reports are circulating on the web about a new speaker launch. This unannounced Sonos Play portable speaker looks smaller than Move 2 but is expected to be bigger than the Roam in size and sound.
The portable speaker was first spotted on a Best Buy Canada page a few days ago; since then, the listing has been taken down. According to the now-deleted listing, the speaker offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, AirPlay 2 support, voice controls, and Trueplay for automatically adjusting the sound based on its environment. There is also an Aux-in for connecting other equipment.
Sonos Play is claimed to offer 24 hours of battery life and is expected to offer twice as much juice as the Roam 2, while being lighter than Move 2 (which weighs 3 kilograms). The listing shows its weight at 1.31 kilograms, making it suitable for camping trips as well. Tom’s Guide further notes that the new speaker will come with an updated app with improved navigation and controls.

The Sonos Play product page also showed White and Black color options and a small carrying strap for added convenience. The IP67-rated dust- and waterproof rating is an attractive feature that makes it capable for outdoor use, even on the beach.
Best Buy Canada listed it for $399.99 (about $295), and the release date was slated for March 31. In a Reddit discussion, most users see the new Sonos Play speaker as a middle ground between Move 2 and Roam. Many think it is a great move to fill the gap if its sound quality is closer to the Move model.
