Tentsile is one of the first companies to introduce tree tents, and it has steadily improved its designs over time. One of the main challenges for the company is the relatively high weight, which limits the suitability for backpacking trips. Previously, models like the UNA 1-person tree tent and the Stingray Lite signaled a shift in design philosophy, with emphasis on material innovation to reduce the overall weight. Now, after a two-year gap, the brand has returned with new models that reduce weight even further. By reengineering its earlier designs, Tentsile has introduced the AIR Range, which is touted as its lightest lineup yet.

When launched in 2018, the UNA 1-person tree tent weighed around 5.1 lbs (2.33 kg), which is now cut down by 430 grams, about 25 percent in the UNA AIR 1-person model. The new tree tent weighs just 3.7 lbs (1.7 kg), letting you take it anywhere without overloading your backpack.

Similar to the Warbonnet Ridgerunner hammock tent, which prioritized lightweight and one-person setup, the AIR range takes weight seriously, resulting in significant improvements for effortless portability. Its lighter design is the outcome of organza mesh, which weighs 50g/sqm, and the removal of unnecessary loops, toggles, and hardware.

The UNA AIR packs down into a compact 12 x 5 x 5.5 inches, making it easy to carry around. Each unit comes with a 20D PU-coated polyester 5,000 HH waterproof and 2,500 UV hours of sun-resistance rain fly that ensures full weather protection. Its wider straps allow it to hold a weight of up to 265 lbs (120kg).

Much like other tents from the brand, this model offers flat-lay comfort. With a triangular shape and an underfloor strap system, ratchet tensioning, and simple straps, it creates a bed-like sleeping surface for complete relaxation. Setting up the UNA AIR tree tent takes just 10-20 minutes, according to the company, but you have to be familiar with the included components.

There is also a two-person Flite AIR tree tent designed for couples. It weighs around 5.95 lbs (2.7kg), significantly lighter than the earlier Flite 2-person tent at 10.4lbs (4.7kg).

Tentsile is crowdfunding its AIR range of tree tents through Kickstarter. If you wish to buy, the UNA Air can be pre-ordered for $268 and the Flite AIR for $367, with delivery expected in August 2026.
