A water butt is a great way to collect and store rainwater.
Simply dig a dish-like ring around your plants to direct rainwater to them.
Mulch or use organic compost to help store rainfall in flower beds.

Consider spiking every 10-15 cm, at a depth of about 10 cm, if your ground or lawn is compacted.
Raised beds require more water because they drain more freely.
