When it comes to portable projectors, XGIMI is definitely a market leader. For 2026, the brand has officially launched the 5th-generation of its Z6X projector, meant for those looking for a budget-friendly home theater experience. The main highlight is an integrated 150-degree gimbal stand that allows for easy wall-to-ceiling projection. XGIMI has retained the 1080p resolution of its predecessors but introduced hardware and brightness upgrades.
The 5th-gen Z6X projector features a built-in swivel stand that allows you to tilt it up to 150 degrees for easily projecting onto the ceiling or high on a wall. The adjustable stand also doubles as a protective frame that covers the front and back of the projector when folded flat for travel or storage. All the components have been redesigned into a thinner frame that can fold away when not in use.
The Yaber T1 Pro we reviewed a few months back had a similar kind of gimbal design, but it lacked stability when projected towards the ceiling due to weight differences in the base and main projector unit. This could be applied to the 5th Gen Z6X projector as well. It is interesting to know how well it stands on a flat surface. XGIMI increased the base width for better stability, and we believe some weight is added to its base, so that it stays upright when tilted towards the ceiling.
The projector has an upgraded MediaTek MT9270 chipset combined with Mali-G52 graphics for faster system boot times and improved AI voice response. It runs on the newer GMUI 6.0 operating system, which is touted to offer better integration with Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem and upgraded AI voice features.

This DLP projector offers increased brightness of 550 CVIA lumens, which makes it capable for rooms that are not perfectly dark during the day. The projector has a throw ratio of 1.2: 1 and offers 124% coverage of the Rec. 709 color space, which is significantly wider than standard budget portable LED projectors. It also includes a new high-transmittance coated lens for improved image clarity and more consistent brightness. For sound, it comes with two 3W speakers with Dolby Audio support.
Measuring around nine inches wide, eight inches tall, and two and a half inches deep, the 5th Gen Z6X projector weighs 1.1kg (2.4lbs). It is marketed as portable, but it lacks a built-in battery, unlike the Xgimi MoGo 4 model.
XGIMI has launched the projector primarily for the Chinese market, but there is no official detail on whether it will be available globally or not. If you are willing to buy one, it is currently listed for roughly $300 at AliBaba.com. The company rebrands many of its projectors for international release, and this may be true even for this release.
