Guns we use for self-defense can’t be left around the house like other household objects. Things can go wrong if you aren’t cautious. There are several incidents being reported in media of children playing with unsupervised loaded guns and most of them didn’t end well. Although, there are gun concealment furniture available in market, you can also try one to make by yourself.

Corey Decker of Sawdust 2 Stiches, inspired by the Pottery Barn mirror cupboard, shared tutorial to create a wall-mounted mirror cabinet that can properly store your firearms without getting in notice of others. The secret compartment behind the mirror is most unique feature of this gun concealment.

Corey started by making frame for her gun cabinet by cutting out 2×4’ wooden panels with a lip on the inside. This lip served as a platform for the pegboard to house in. Then she fitted a customizable pegboard on to the frame.

She made two plywood doors (12 inches and 18 inches in height), which would swing open to reveal the weapons or close to conceal the guns out of sight and attached them to the main frame with the help of piano hinges.

Then she covered the doors with 8-by-5 grid of 5-inches-square mirrors to mask up the secret compartment. This three inches deep cabinet very easily stocks guns, magazines, and other ammunition with a mirror disguise from any unsuspecting guests and intruders.

If you are a gun fanatic, or have guns in your home and are a responsible owner, then you can make something like this, which will be safe and fun to create.
