Designed by Bali-based architect Alexis Dornier, Lift is one-of-a-kind boutique hotel located in a suburb of Ubud, Indonesia. The construction was completed in 2019. There are a total of three vacation rentals at the Lift Bali constructed without the use of concrete, which is the go-to construction material in the region.

Built against the odds, the wooden and metal structure comprises rooms elevated from the ground, which provides 360-degree views of lush, tropical surroundings, and places the structures in the category of a treehouse.

Take for example the George Orwell House (one of the three structures), which is elevated from the ground on metal stilts and has a traditional thatched roof. It is designed as a two-story treehouse for ones who like adventure and want to live up in the air.

A flight of stairs takes one to the lower floor that houses a private bathroom. Upstairs is a bedroom with an adjoining balcony to enjoy the outdoors.

There is a terrace on the rooftop, along with modern amenities such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the lodging facility. A half-moon swimming pool, lots of recreation areas, including a yoga deck in mid-air, add to the charm of the property.

The idea of building off-the-ground structures in the middle of a naturally delightful setting leaves the ground area minimally impacted and people immensely attracted.

Thus, the George Orwell House is an ideal vacation rental for couples wanting privacy and a place to enjoy the beautiful landscape in a park-like setting. It can be rented for about $60 on Airbnb.
