Yesterday we did talk about how speakers have exceeded their ambit as just household sound devices. The current design direction of ‘technology meeting art’ also makes them impressive items of home decor. Well, nothing exhibits this righteous trend more aptly than the above pictured ‘Audio Book’. Literally epitomizing the fusion of a real time book with an audio based device, the interesting project (contributed to Browsing Series) was undertaken by the Singaporean studio of Foreign Policy. The designers aimed to give the browsing copies of books a new life, after they have been discarded by the book store. So, in essence it is a recycling endeavor with a more urbane sense of practicality.

Coming to its commercial side of affairs, the creators assured us that each of the speaker conceptions would be completely custom made and hand-crafted. In this regard, the books used as the front facade would vary with around three weeks of further customization (when an order is placed). Finally, the pricing for each of the Audio Books would range between $350 – $750.
