If you visit the Billie BBQ website right now, the first thing you’ll see is a video showcasing their upcoming product, the Billie Pit. In the foreground, the pit is ignited, while the team hails their accomplishment in the background.
Billie BBQ is no newcomer to the space. The company has been designing portable stainless-steel campfire pits and barbecues for outdoor cooking for years. The Billie Pit, scheduled to launch on Kickstarter soon, builds on this experience, but takes a slightly different approach. It is designed to deliver both flames and barbecue convenience anytime, anywhere.
Offered in a convenient carrying pouch, the stainless-steel pit can be set up in minutes whenever you need it. Designed to be compact, extra care has been taken with the details, to create a thoughtfully engineered and convincingly design. For instance, the circumference of the grill features a double-layer raised edge to prevent food from slipping off.
Owing to its extremely lightweight and petite size, the fire pit and BBQ combo is easy to take camping, load into the back of a car for a tailgate party, or simply open and set up in the backyard when you need to cater to a small New Year’s gathering. Whatever the place or occasion, the makers note that “Billie Pit is built for people who refuse to settle for ordinary.”
It is so because the Billie Pit is not ordinary. It is a portable 3-in-1 unit comprising charcoal grill, fire pit with grill, and a fire pit. The base of the pit is a pre-assembled stand, which holds three differently sized stainless-steel segments one inside the other, which when topped with a small rack complete the fire pit design. Install the mount for the grill stake bracket and legs, place the larger charcoal rack on the pit, fill it with coal and your grill’s ready.
When you’re not using the Billie Pit as your primary charcoal grill, it doubles as a fire pit that delivers an impressive level of heat. Once it launches on crowdfunding, it’s expected to be available for pre-order starting at about $150 – it would eventually retail for $189 – which should be a bargain considering its simple construction, ease of use, and excellent cooking and fire pit functionality.
Cleaning is often what makes or breaks a fire pit’s design. From how Billie Pit appears, you would be required to wait until it cools down before you can make the move to empty the coal, clean it, and pack it up for transportation. Despite that, the pit is petty interestingly structure makes it well-suited for small camping trips and picnics, and it presents a strong case when it launches.
