Designed by New-York-based designer Victor Vetterlein, the Bite Me lamp, is one a kind edible lamp made with biodegradable plastic from vegetable glycerin and agar – a gelatin made from sea algae. The edible lamp works as any ordinary table lamp during its lifetime, but when the lamp has completed its natural life or when the user no longer needs it, the lamp can be eaten. Yes, that’s correct eaten.

Once the lamp is no longer useful, the user can consume the Bite Me lamp. The user can remove all the electrical components from the lamp, clean it and submerge the frame into the water (for an hour) to soften and then eat it, or throw it in the garden to compost.

Available in four natural flavors including, orange, cherry, blueberry and apple with lots of nutrients, the Bite Me lamp has an LED light source attached to the main frame with a transparent plastic adhesive strip and draws power from the main frame or computer via a laser cut metal line. The Bite Me lamp is expected to go on sale soon.
