BunduTec USA will showcase its latest RipTide pop-up truck topper at the 2026 Overland Expo. Designed for greater comfort and protection in harsh outdoor conditions, the new model combines the best elements of the company’s earlier BunduTop and BunduAwn systems. Described as a hybrid between a truck camper and a truck topper, the slide-in hard-shell unit is built for mid-size trucks but can also be adapted for full-size models. One of its key advantages is improved insulation, helping eliminate the air gaps and temperature-transfer issues commonly found in standard toppers.

The RipTide is designed to be either a full-time addition to your truck or an easily removable full topper, rather than a traditional truck camper. It is designed to serve as an equipment and gear hauler, but it can also serve as a reliable shelter when the weather takes a turn.

Instead of a traditional pop-up roof where the entire camper ceiling lifts on canvas fabric walls, RipTide separates the pop-up function from the lower shell. The roof of the hard-side topper is actually an electric BunduTop roof-top tent that serves as the primary sleeping space. This area is accessed with a custom ladder and includes a privacy area for dressing. In case of extreme weather, a 75-inch roll-out sleeping pad can be placed on the floor. The company also offers a larger “King” tent option that is 10 inches wider than the standard version.

Similar to the company’s hard-sided truck campers, the RipTide’s roof is constructed with ½-inch plywood and finished with rubber roofing to support the BunduTop and additional roof loads. An extra foam seal beneath the tent further enhances weather resistance.

The RipTide truck topper has an interior height of only 56 inches, which can be difficult for most people to stand upright, but they can still move around the interior. Another notable feature is the 36-inch cabover area, designed for long-term storage and bins, ideal for bulky items. It can also be used as a sleeper for a child. The interior is equipped with a sidewall-mounted exhaust fan, a few drawers, and other interior storage cabinets.

TraxTab is also an option for the RipTide that combines a lockable carrier for MaxTrax Recovery Trax with a fold-down table. Located on the passenger side, it is covered by the Half Wing BunduAwn for shade and rain protection. A lift-up access door allows for easy retrieval of kitchen items stored inside from the outside.

Additionally, the RipTide includes the option to add a small cold-water package with an interior sink, a 10-gallon tank, and a water pump. There is a spray port with a coil hose above the TraxTab for cooking or washing, as well as a gravity water-fill location. The truck topper will also include a 57-liter 12V chest fridge mounted on a raised front shelf.

The RipTide comes standard with a 50Ah Epoch lithium battery, capable of powering the 12V chest fridge, BunduTop, and LED lighting. It also features an optional 200W solar panel on the roof, paired with a RedArc BCDC charging system for off-grid power support. Additional features include a 115V shore power connection, integrated ducting for a diesel heater, and extended controls that allow the heater to be operated from inside the tent or cabin for added comfort in colder weather.

The RipTide has a dry weight of 840 pounds and measures 115 inches in overall length with an exterior width of 74 inches. It stands 61 inches tall on the outside, while the interior offers a generous height of 77 inches for improved comfort and usability. The floor length measures 75 inches, making it suitable for efficient living and storage.

The RipTide pop-up truck topper has been thoughtfully designed for maximum living convenience in any weather. It comes with a wide selection of customization options so you can build a setup that perfectly suits your own requirements.
